Client: Effe
Yoku SH is a modular Sauna + Hammam system designed by Marco Williams Fagioli (Zup Design) for Effe.
Its name is inspired by a particular branch of Japanese natural medicine called "Shinrin-Yoku", which literally means "Forest Bathing" and a practice based on the principle that deep immersion in nature has surprising beneficial effects on health. The distinctive element of the Yoku system is represented by the large recessed windows of the front elevation and the vertical architectural elements in natural wood that suggest immersion in a forest of trees, creating an elegant sensation of intimacy during the heat bath. Yoku's design is essential and balanced, thanks to the stove integrated into the bench, the interior enjoys great formal linearity. Despite this design rigor, the three wood essences, including thermo-treated wood, make the sauna a welcoming, warm and also customizable environment. The front elevation, in fact, can be punctuated by the vertical rhythms of the bookcase, have a wooden door or just large transparent windows.
