Client: Expo Milano
Convivium 2.0 is a setup and communication project created for the Umbria Region for Expo 2015. The project concept, in line with the theme of the Exhibition, represents the idea of knowledge as nourishment for the mind, asserting Umbria's prominence in the dissemination of knowledge and craftsmanship, through the recovery of ancient roots shaped by the work of learned Benedictine and Franciscan monks.
Building on the monks' experience, a new typeface called Umbria Monk was developed in collaboration with students and professors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia. This initiative demonstrates how the roots of Umbrian culture provide the foundation for a modern vision of contemporary communication—a symbolic fusion between the 'old,' understood as tradition, and the new, born from creativity. The graphic project was particularly appreciated by the artistic direction of Expo, allowing Umbria to exceptionally adopt the new font for its signage at the Italian Pavilion.
