Zup presents Lighted, a series of floor and pendant lamps in concrete designed by Marco Williams Fagioli, winner of the Compasso d’Oro ADI 2016. Starting from handcrafted molds and inspired by techniques from the art of engraving, Lighted brings to life an inert material like concrete, transforming it into a light source. Triennalina is created from a mold of studio lights from the 1960s, while Cupola and Maccarone are lamps with more iconic and essential shapes.
Through the creation of a mold, the light source is produced in limited quantities, straddling the line between mass production and craftsmanship, where each object is both homologous and unique. Each individual lamp retains its own distinct identity thanks to the use of concrete, a material sensitive to natural shrinkage, cracking, and unpredictable color variations. The lamps were exhibited at the 2017 Fuori Salone.
