Client: Porto Torres
Porto Torres is one of Sardinia's main ferry gateways, a busy junction between road and sea crossed every day by vehicles heading to the boarding lanes. Zup designed the wayfinding system for the port terminal, developing the graphics for all totems and directional signage, with animated solutions engineered to make the signage clearer and more immediately effective. The project also included a complete icon set — hazard symbols and functional pictograms — designed for instant recognition and built specifically for the port's communication needs. A series of LED panel layouts was developed as well, calibrating type, colour and composition to maximise clarity, readability and the effectiveness of each message, since most of this information is read by drivers from their car in the moments before boarding the ferry. Particular attention was paid to the sequence of information along the route to the pier, so that every totem, icon and panel works as part of a single, coherent system.
